Service Projects

Service to others in the community is a major objective of Junior Auxiliary.  Service is rendered through projects, which are planned undertakings in the fields of welfare, health, recreation, community, culture, civic, or education.  The following is a list and description of our service projects.

Adopt A Child

Junion Auxillary purchases and delivers new winter clothing to 100 children at Christmas time. Teachers from the city and county schools recommend students who are in need of clothes.

Clothes Closet/School Supplies

Junior Auxillary stocks and maintains a reserve of new and used clothing and school supplies. Each week, a member call the city and county schools to see if any child needs clothes or supplies. Junior Auxillary then distributes the materials to the students in need.

Relay for Life

Junior Auxillary's national focus is "Healthy Children--Healthy Futures." To emphasize the importance of healthy habits, Junior Auxillary of New Albany sets up a booth at our local Relay for Life and gives out free bottles of water with pamphlets outlining the benefits of drinking water.

Seniors Bingo/Seniors Tea

Junior Auxillary hosts monthly bingo games and teas for residents at Graceland Nursing Home.

JA Art Day

Members of Junior Auxillary direct hands-on participation in art activites for approximately 120 third graders in the city and county schools.

Scholarship

Each year, Junior Auxillary awards an undergraduate scholarship to a high school senior based on community service, and a graduate level scholarship to an individual pursuing a degree in a child-related field of study.

Cookies for Spelling

Each year, Junior Auxillary makes homemade cookies and "goody" bags for students participating ni the Union County Spelling Bee. This is a way to let them know that their hard work is appreciated.

J.A. Family

Junior Auxillary selects one struggling family and helps them learn to help themselves over a 2-year period. By assisting them in finding jobs or getting back in school, Junior Auxillary helps this family meet basic needs.

Museum Madness

Four days in the summer, Junior Auxillary holds a variety of cultural workshops at the Union County Museum for second-fifth grade students.

Books for Babes

Junior Auxillary provides a book, a library card application, and information on the importance of reading to each baby born at Baptist Memorial Hospital--Union county.
